Getting your measurements right the first time
Whether you're ordering made-to-measure replacement doors, flat pack cabinets, or a complete new kitchen from us, accurate measurements are the difference between a perfect fit and a costly delay. This guide walks you through exactly what to measure, in what order, and the small details that are easy to miss — so when you send your plan to our team, we can turn it around quickly and correctly.

Start with a rough top-down sketch of your kitchen — it doesn't need to be to scale. Walk the room and note each wall length in millimetres as you go, along with your ceiling height.
- Sloped ceiling? Take the measurement at both the lowest and highest point.
- Measure the ceiling height in two spots on opposite sides of the room, as older properties often aren't perfectly level.
- Note any chimney breasts, alcoves or awkward corners directly onto your sketch as you go.
Add doors, windows and the space between them
Mark every door and window onto your sketch, then measure each individual wall section either side of them — not just the total wall length. This tells us exactly how much run you have for units and doors.
- Record the windowsill height from the floor, so we can see what will fit underneath.
- Note whether each door opens inwards or outwards, as this affects where units and appliances can go.
- Double check your smaller measurements add up to the total wall length before moving on.
Mark existing services and fixed features
Add radiators, boilers, waste pipes, extraction points and electrical sockets to your sketch. These fixed points often dictate where sinks, hobs and tall units can practically go.
- Don't worry if socket positions haven't been finalised — we can help advise on this.
- Include the height, width and depth of any boiler, plus any pipework connected to it.
- Note the height of existing sockets and switches from the floor, if you're keeping them in place.
Photograph tricky areas and send everything over
If you have architect's plans, previous designs, or photos of the room, send these along with your sketch — the more context we have, the more accurate our advice and cutting will be.
- Photograph any sloped ceilings, beams, pillars or awkward corners from a few angles.
- A short video walking around the room can help us picture the space even better than photos alone.

What if I'm only replacing my kitchen doors, not the whole kitchen?
You'll still need accurate width and height measurements for every door and drawer front, taken from the existing cabinet openings. We'll guide you through this on our replacement doors pages, and our team can double-check anything you're unsure of before you order.
Do you offer a measuring or design service if I'm not confident doing it myself?
